The Witch's Tool "Precise" is the magick word here. First you have to know EXACTLY what you want to accomplish. Be specific!. Then you need to be able to transpose your thought and energy into reality. Ah, the rub! This takes practice, practice, practice. Let's suppose you are working on your athame, the witches' knife. Transposing thought and energy into reality is what you accomplish when you have completed the work. Two persons working together doubles the thought and energy; a coven working as one is even more powerful. "Working as one" within a magick circle is the secret to true magick and takes time and dedication to accomplish for each member and the group. A solitary witch, because of location or preference, works alone or may work with a familiar and with less distraction. Which brings us to another aspect of this all important tool. For the witch to build and retain her powers, performing the full moon ritual is far more important than meeting for festivals or sabbats. For on the eve of the full moon occurs the strongest tide to ride on the path of magick. Members of a coven should make every effort to meet at the appointed place and time. Practice makes perfect and the coven needs to work together often enough to become one thought, one movement, one rhythm. This is one reason Native American and aboriginal rituals are so effective. Drumming is incorporated into their rituals and provides the basic rhythm needed to sustain and direct the group into becoming one. Keeping a record of your efforts may help you determine areas that need work and for future use also a record of what has worked for you in the past. Memorize the spells that work and place the book in a secret place to be used for future notes or to jog the memory. Work your magick unfettered with the logic of words. Pay attention to the sounds of the words, instead. Tools are an encouraging beginning, a means to an end, a reminder of elements and action. We've just traveled from the present to the past and back to the present in a few short paragraphs. May your travels through this life encourage you, bring you love and supply you with the tools you need to make the magick you desire. Lists of the tools for the Craft abound in books and on the web. Usually each tradition has a formula all its own for their purpose or use and even design. When witches make their own, they place within the tools the power needed to bring about the magick. Making ones own tools involves dedication and the time needed to practice the magick of thought...the one tool, often omitted in these lists, and probably the most important tool of all. The ability to meld thought and energy into one precise direction for a particular purpose.

Rhythm: "The pattern of development produced by repetition of elements such as words, phrases, incidents, themes, images, and symbols. Procedure or routine characterized by regularly recurring elements." On-line dictionary

Explorers have found ancient evidence of this magickal practice of transposing thought into reality in the cave paintings discovered in France and North America. Petroglyphs in these caves and on rocks depict the hunter, the healer, the sower of seeds actually realizing their desire in the present tense and not in some future time.
Divination is also a tool to awaken that part of us that can transcend. There are many - tarot, runes, astrology, numerology, a regular deck of playing cards, tea leaves, coffee grounds, oil on water, the crystal, a mirror - the list can be as long as the number of humans on this planet. Each person has their own unique ability.

If it Harms none, Do what Thou Will!
Blessed Be!
