A spell is more than a wish. A spell has power, or rather, the witch has the power to accomplish the work.
It's a tricky business, casting spells. In many traditions only a witch of high degree who has trained and worked the Craft for many years may cast a spell. Trust me, there is good reason. Remember - never act in anger, only for protection and always with love and a pure heart. If you have to talk yourself into believing you have good reason for performing a spell, better let it go. The following spells are presented in love and with a pure heart for the good of all and harm to none.

Personal preparations
If possible take a cleansing bath before performing a spell or cleanse with smoke of sage. It's a mood enhancer. Use candles when you need focus.

Home protection and cleansing spells
These spells are for use in an existing home, apartment, when first moving into a new home and for the persons involved. The same spells also work on cars and passengers.

To purify and cleanse your home of negative ions and clean up your act:
• First consecrate water and using a basil aspergilis sprinkle every person, animal and room in the home. You can also use a smoking sage stick for cleansing and purification.
• Then sprinkle salt on your carpets and floors. This includes under furniture and in corners.
• Vacuum the carpets and be sure to remove the refuse bag and empty it on the ground in the yard.
• Sweep the floors (hardwood, linoleum or tile) with your broom toward the nearest entrance/exit door and out into the yard.

Dancing in the corners of rooms helps to stir up negative ions and balance the energy in your home. Plus it's fun.

To prevent unwanted visitors of any realm from entering your home:
• At each window sill and above the entrance/exit doors draw a upright pentacle with chalk the same color as your woodwork. Make certain you begin the pentacle with the top point facing out.

• A broom leaning against the jams outside your entrance/exit doors deters unwanted visitors.

For protection against fire in your home:
• In the center point of your home, hang a blue container of cloth filled with ashes and tied with a blue ribbon. This is to awaken your awareness and prevent carelessness.

When need be, strongly chant the following spell at any time, in any place, for yourself, another person, or around the perimeter of your home and car.

"I cast a gold circle of protection about _________ across which no harm dare set foot for the good of all and harm to none."
