Vegetable Gardening

Home grown vegetables are tastier and healthier than store bought varieties. Vegetables can also enhance your landscape. They need lots of sunshine, at least 6 to 8 hours a day; moisture, fertile soil, weeding and insect control.

To increase yields consider raised-bed gardening especially where space is limited or clay soil is in abundance. Keep your raised-beds 5 feet wide or less for easy reach. Small gardens take a bit more planning and can increase yields by placing plants closer together and using every available inch of space. Vertical gardening using plant supports can also save space and increase yields. If you gardening is limited to a patio, container gardening is the answer.
